Martha and Mary Women's Center

$5,000 per year commitment

Our synod helped build this Center (dedicated 2008) and has continued to support its operation.  Meeting and study space for Lutheran women, economic skill-building and literacy classes for women of all faiths, offices for the FCC (Central African Women for Christ), as well as rooms to rent and a shop for crafts, enabling the FCC to contribute to Center support—these are all a part of the Center.

You may know that one of the Millennium Development Goals from the United Nations include promoting gender equality and empowering women.

The Women’s group in the C.A.R., “Women for Christ,” take this very seriously. They gather together to grow in faith and learn basic skills that improve their lives and the lives of their families. The Women’s Center, in Bouar, C.A.R., is in need of continual improvements and assistance with basic operations. In addition the program that gives scholarships to young girls is in need of support.

Infant and maternal mortality rates are some of the highest in the world. Many people die with treatable diseases due to a lack of health care.

Training people to work in the newly completed Gallo Clinic is one way the Lutheran Church is responding to this issue.

Speakers are available to talk with your congregation or leadership team about this critical ministry.
