Mission Endowment Fund of the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod
The Mission Endowment Fund (MEF), established in 1999, is a mission outreach fund for use in the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod. Income earned on the permanent investment is granted in May and November to those who apply and qualify for grants.
Seed money for dreams
The MEF supports vital ministries that cannot be funded through either the synod or individual congregational budgets. Contributions may be given in one of three ways:

Make an outright gift. A contribution exceeding $100,000 may designate a specific new objective.

Name the Mission Endowment Fund in your will.

Customize your gift to your situation (such as through a planned charitable gift annuity or charitable remainder unitrust).

What are the Grant
Objectives and Eligibility?
Requests for Grants must meet one of the following objectives:

Seminary Scholarships
Eligibility: All candidates for rostered leadership who are active members of established or developing ELCA congregations in the Gulf Coast Synod and enrolled in an approved seminary program. Candidates are asked to apply for scholarships through the synod's Candidacy Committee.

New Congregations
Eligibility: All mission developments and newly organized ocongregations in their first three years of ministry.

Campus Ministry
Eligibility: Campus Ministry at any college or university of the Gulf Coast Synod. For support of campus ministry directors, please apply for grants through the synod's Campus Ministry Committee.
- Seed Money
Eligibility: Congregation and synodical programs may request one-time grants to start new programs.
