Interim Hurricane Disaster Plan ...Interim Disaster Plan
At the last Bayou Ministerium meeting, Bishop Rinehart proposed the following Interim Disaster Plan to be in effect until the Disaster Preparedness Task Force completes its work.
IMMEDIATELY 1. Synod leadership contact the Minneapolis Synod to make sure they’re prepared to handle our overflow calls should the Houston Synod Office line be down. (This has been done.) 2. Synod leadership assemble a list of pastors who could come in first response, getting worship up, supporting pastors 3. Collect information on places pastors and rostered leaders might go in case of evacuation. 4. Get a list of congregations willing to serve as a shelter in case of emergency. Post it on the web. 5. Consider a VOIP line. 6. Publish this plan to everyone in the synod, with phone number for VOIP and Minneapolis Synod: 612.870.3610 7. Include in the plan a strong instruction to call the synod office after a disaster and let us know where you are and how you’re doing. 8. Put it on the web page HURRICANE ENTERS THE GULF 1. Prayer 2. Email congregations disaster plan again and remind them to check in after the storm. Give out VOIP and Minneapolis Synod numbers. Minneapolis Synod: 612.870.3610 3. Remind people to gas up cars, and offer other basic disaster prep info. AFTERMATH 1. Prayer 2. Rostered leaders call synod to update on status, even if nothing is wrong. 3.
